Rick & Dani – Founders & Executive Directors
Rick and Dani are the heart behind Pawprints Pet Rescue. Married for over 20 years and longtime Colorado residents, they’ve raised their four daughters—and more than 20 rescued dogs—in the Brighton area. Their shared passion for animal welfare led them to launch PPR with one goal in mind: create a safe haven for pets in need. From daily care to long-term planning, Rick and Dani lead the organization with hands-on dedication and a whole lot of heart.
🐾 Fun Fact: Rick & Dani’s idea of “date night” usually involves chasing a loose foster, cleaning up a mystery puddle, folding 87 blankets, and falling asleep to the sound of snoring pups. Candlelight optional.
Laynee – Co-Owner, Veterinary Technician & Animal Care Lead
Laynee is a co-owner of Pawprints Pet Rescue and was our very first staff member. She holds an associate degree in veterinary medicine from Pima Medical Institute and currently works as a vet tech at a local veterinary clinic. Laynee’s bond with animals started in early childhood and only grew stronger with time—she still remembers volunteering at a puppy shelter in middle school and realizing she’d found her calling. Today, she brings that same passion to every animal she cares for, forming deep, intuitive connections that help even the shyest pets feel safe.
🐾 Fun Fact: Laynee once turned down a date to bottle-feed puppies… and says she’d do it again without hesitation.
Breanne – Coordinator and Board member
Raised in Colorado, Breanne has been an animal lover her entire life. Her home has been shared with everything from dogs and cats to pigs, fish, chickens, and even horses. She helps match animals with loving temporary homes and supports our amazing volunteers every step of the way. Breanne’s natural warmth and experience with all kinds of creatures make her an incredible resource—and a favorite with both people and pets.
🐾 Fun Fact: Breanne swears her pets pick their own names—and once got outvoted by a parrot named “Mittens.”
Zach – Marketing and Board Member
Born and raised in Colorado, Zach has grown to have a strong attachment to supporting local and helping Animals. An avid Colorado everything supporter, from sports teams to local businesses, the ability to continue supporting a Colorado foundation focused on rescue pets is an amazing opportunity. With households growing up always full of animals, and almost all rescues, he’s got a love for them all – with family members having many dogs and cats over the years. Through Various fundraising efforts, Zach has managed to raise significant money for Animal Shelters in the past and is extremely excited to help grow one that is full of people who truly can and will make a difference in the heart of his home state.
🐾 Fun Fact: Zach once rescued a cat during a whiskey tasting—and named her “Barley.” She still judges his drink choices.
